Introduction to the nGMS Quality Definitions Index
The Quality Definitions Index is the definitive guide for the interpretation of the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) for the new General Medical Services contract in Scotland.
To use the index just follow these 3 simple steps:
Step 1
Check the NatPaCT and Scottish Pay Modernisation websites in the first instance to establish if a similar issue has already been raised.
Step 2
If an answer is not available you should submit your query to the nGMS Team using the Quality Definitions online enquiry form. The question will be forwarded to the appropriate individual or organisation for consideration.
Step 3
The answer to your query will be e-mailed to you and a copy of the question and the response will be posted on to the Quality Definitions Index page on the Pay Modernisation website. The response time for your question will be dependent on the category of the question i.e. whether it requires a core, Scottish or UK answer (see the categories list provided below for details).
Enquiry Categories
Category 1 – Core Level
Your enquiry is suitable for an answer by the core group established for NHS Scotland (includes interpretation/ elucidation of current guidance with no major workload or prevalence implications).
Category 2 – Scottish Level
Your enquiry is similar to Category 1 but needs clearance at Scottish level to ensure consistency and agreement (especially if there are workload and prevalence implications). In this case, draft response is passed to a wider group for discussion and agreement (including SGPC) before finalisation.
Category 3 – UK Level
Your enquiry may need to be made at a UK level, for instance because it entails changes in codes, indicators etc. In this case, a suggested response can be drafted after consultation as in 2 above and passed for UK decision/ consideration.
Note: A paper-based copy of the Definitions Enquiry Form can be provided for those that cannot access the online system. To receive a copy of the paper-based form please e-mail the nGMS Team or write to the nGMS Development Officer at: Springfield House, Laurelhill Business Park, Stirling, FK7 9JQ
