About the National GMS Reference Group
Background
The National Reference Group was established to provide leadership and strategic direction to the implementation of the new General Medical Services contract in Scotland. This group works inclusively and in partnership is populated from across NHS Scotland (GMS leads and project managers, Nursing, Pharmacy, AHPs, Public, SGPC, SEHD, Partnership, Acute, Medical Directors, RCN, Chief Execs etc). The group has clear value in leadership, delivering priorities, information sharing, partnership working.Remit
Membership of the National Reference Group is sufficiently broad and inclusive to ensure that a wide range of key stakeholders is represented. Its role is to:
- Provide leadership and strategic direction to the implementation process in Scotland
- Create and sustain a sense of joint ownership of the implementation process across all the key stakeholders
- Support and co-ordinate the activities of the national Working Groups to enable them to deliver their objectives
- Share information and good practice between the various working groups and stakeholder groups
- Act as an advisory group, where appropriate, to support local-level implementation teams
- Develop communication mechanisms across stakeholder groups and network with the rest of the UK implementation process
